VORP 2015 Year in Review

2015 was a good year for our VORP team. The Richmond and Antioch probation departments referred more than 150 cases to our VORP program. Of these cases referred, we saw a higher rate of participation and successful completion. VORP works primarily with juveniles without prior records, encouraging discussion between them and those they have wronged. Our goal is to keep these juveniles out of the system, avoiding the future repercussions that come when a record follows them. We also promote a healthy and open discussion about what the offenders envision their future looking like and how they can achieve that, with the ultimate goal of reducing recidivism. In years past, approximately 85-90% of participants in VORP did not recommit and we anticipate seeing similar figures continue.
