Terry Abts began his association with the Congress of Neutrals in 2014. He attended the mediation training and then continued through the MMP (Mediator Mentoring Program), training under Donna Bratton-Kearns. He then began mediating small claims cases and eventually expanded into unlawful detainer actions and civil harassment. Terry was later invited to join the board and has been a valued member of the Congress of Neutrals since.

Terry comes from a large family, with nine brothers and sisters and learned from a young age the value of collaboration and working things out. He attended college at Long Beach State, earning a BS in Physiology and began his career in healthcare as a cardiac physiologist. He then went back to school and completed his MBA at Cal Poly, Pomona. This led to thirty plus years in healthcare management, eventually serving as president of a healthcare alliance. Terry left healthcare in 1998 and entered into real estate in 1999. He then earned his JD in 2009 from San Francisco Law School (the oldest law school in San Francisco). He currently practices residential real estate as a broker with Pacific Union Real Estate.

Terry met his wife, Donna, at Long Beach State. She is a licensed physical therapist, currently working in ergonomics and injury prevention with a major bay area corporation. They were married in 1997 and have three great adult children. Terry and Donna love theater, skiing, scuba diving, hiking and camping, cooking and generally being with each other. For one of Terry’s more rewarding mediation cases, see our highlight above. Of mediation, Terry says, “I got involved to make a difference and help people resolve conflict.”

Thank you, Terry, for all of your hard work and dedication to the Congress of Neutrals.
