TRAINING OVERVIEW: This two-hour mediation training is designed primarily for family law practitioners who have training and experience as a mediator. The course will review the process of family law contempt referrals at the Spinetta Court House, the underlying law of contempt, and review essential hallmarks of mediation such as confidentiality, neutrality, and avoiding improper bias. Participants will have the opportunity to develop mediation skills and techniques, and gain valuable practice experience at the Superior Court.
MCLE CREDIT: This Congress of Neutrals training is approved for 2 hours MCLE credit by the State Bar of California, which includes 1 hour ethics and .5 hours elimination of bias.
MEDIATION MENTORING PROGRAM: Through its Contra Costa County Superior Court mediation program in small claims, unlawful detainer and civil harassment cases, The Congress of Neutrals provides qualified new mediators, who have completed a mediation skills training and who submit an approved application, with a unique opportunity to gain practical mediation experience under the supervision of experienced mediators.

The Congress of Neutrals, a California non-profit corporation, serves the community by providing conflict resolution services and training mediators. Since 2001, our mediators have conducted over 10,000 mediations for the Superior Court of Contra Costa County, primarily small claims, unlawful detainer and civil harassment actions. We recently began providing mediation of family law contempt cases.
